Open air museum in Stockholm has a "kids zoo" area with kittens and guinea pigs. Parents take their kids there when its time to say goodbye to the pacifier. There are thousands of pacifiers on all the trees.

In 1904, J. R. R. Tolkien, author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, moved to Rednal with his mother, who had been ill and was convalescing. The hills became a favourite haunt and are thought to be an inspiration for the mythical Shire, where the hobbits lived in his books.

This anient Yew stands in Sumpter Yard next to St Albans Cathedral. I usually try and avoid including cars in shots whenever possible, but they serve a useful purpose here by providing a scale. At the Witching Hour (midnight) the tree is supposed to be a conduit for departed spirits to rematerialise.

This tree is an older one, which we've put up most years going back to the eighties. In many of those years, particularly when we decorate it in Victorian style, it is our main Christmas Tree. In recent times, though, we've been adding a new tree each year, and this one has been a second tree.

Our African Grey is very tuned in to Christmas. "Ho Ho Ho...Merry Christmas" often comes from her. Some times it morphs into "Ho Ho Ho...Mer-ry Christmas Tree" When she is brought into the Christmas (front) room, she sees the trees. She calls this the 'Other Christmas Tree'.

This photo is lighted ONLY with the Christmas lights in the room. Quite slow exposure setting creates this mood.

Animal Kingdom Park

Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, FL

I really like Animal Kingdom Park for how well it executes its theme. Despite this I have fewer pictures from here that I really like. This partially stems from the fact that I tend to prefer night shots and I've never had the chance to shoot AK at night. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with this park at night in the upcoming additions!

Thanks for your views and comments. Any ideas on night vs. daytime shots and how to improve are welcome!

Beautiful walking and biking paths just outside of Washington DC

Tree Lined Path

A path lined by trees near to Herrenhauser Große garten, Hannover. Taken on my Nikon D40 with a 70-300mm lens.

Trees marching in military style. I'm not sure why the first one is wanting to stop so abruptly, but the following line are going to pile up into its back.

A fun, photoshopped shot from the Ringling Museum in Florida. The sculptures were lying on the ground outside in a pile ( not sure why). The tree is, of course, one of the great cypress with wonderful root systems. Just two shots, but a LOT of messing around to fit. :)

Another new set of trees for use in Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack.
